Uncertainty Quantification And Sensitivity Analysis For The Self-Excited Vibration Of A Spline-Shafting System

Abstract Self-excited vibrations can occur in the spline-shafting system due to internal friction of tooth surface. However, manufacturing errors, design tolerances, and time-varying factors, parameters that induce self-excited are always uncertain. This study provides new insights into uncertainty quantification sensitivity analysis a spline-shaft suffering from vibrations. The non-intrusive generalised polynomial chaos expansion (gPCE) with unknown deterministic coefficients is used represent propagation uncertainties rotor dynamics, which allows rapid estimation statistics non-linear responses. Furthermore, global stochastic vibration response probabilistic uncertain evaluated by Sobol indices. relative influence different random on behavior initial displacement conditions for occurrence investigated. accuracy adopted method based gPCE metamodel validated conventional Monte Carlo simulation (MCS).
